In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God grants us "pardon and peace" through the priest’s sacramental absolution. This Sacrament makes present Jesus’ call to conversion, the very first step in returning to the Father from whom we have strayed by sin. Moreover, the Sacrament focuses on the personal and ecclesial conversion process of contrition, repentance and satisfaction.
Finally, the Sacrament of Reconciliation serves to restore our graced relationships of love and friendship with God and our neighbor.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available:
Saturdays: 8:00am - 9:00am all year, and
3:00pm - 4:00pm from Nov - Feb. (before 4 pm vigil Mass)
4:00pm - 5:00pm from Mar - Oct. (before 5 pm vigil Mass)
FIRST PENANCE This sacrament is usually given to children in the Second Grade. Penance, Confession and Reconciliation are all names given to Gods healing, mercy and forgiveness when Penance is given. This sacrament of the forgiveness of sin reminds us that sin may be secret but it is never private, it weakens our relationship with God and others. Penitents are asked to reflect deeply in preparing themselves for the sacrament. The underlying aim of Penance is a conversion away from sin and healing in our relationship to God, family and friends. God freely forgives us our transgressions, we too should be willing to freely give and receive forgiveness.
