RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Do you know that the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults was approved in the United States since 1986 and has been in place since September 1988? This has been the norm expected in the parishes of the United States since that date. It is the way that adults follow the journey in coming into the Roman Catholic Church The Study Edition for the RCIA edition contains two parts. Part Icontains steps and periods that make up the full form of Christian initiation. Part IIconsists of material for the adaption of the rite to unbaptized children; exceptional circumstances in which the process is not followed in its complete form; situations in which those baptized complete their initiation or are to become part of the full communion of the Catholic Church. “Baptism is ‘the door to life and to the kingdom of God’. May all those who have already been claimed for Christ draw others to the Lord and, through the rites and prayers of this ritual, forge greater bonds of unity in the Church.” (RCIA Study Edition. LTP . 1988. p. xi) Interested in a conversation? Contact Sister Mary Agnes, IHM at smaryan@simonandjude.org or 610.696.3624 #338.
