“Journey with Jesus to Jerusalem” is the first of a two-part adult faith-formation and education program at Saints Simon and Jude parish during the spring of 2021. We will meet on the first five Sundays of Lent –– February 21, February 28, March 7, March 14, March 21 –– and on the first Sunday after Easter, April 11 (no class on Palm Sunday, March 28, and Easter Sunday, April 4). Classes will take place from 10:30 AM to 11:20 AM in The Meehan Center.
The purpose of the program is (1) to provide a context for understanding Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection, and (2) to demonstrate the importance of these events for our Catholic faith today. We will be reading and discussing selections from the Bible, particularly from the Gospel of Matthew, as well as relevant sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The schedule of readings and the class notes are listed under the “Syllabus” below, feel free to download the notes and bring them to class. Overall, the program seeks to not only educate participants about essential aspects of their faith but also to help them to grow in their relationship with God and their fellow Catholics.
Note: Part two of the program, “Journey with Jesus as His Disciple,” will take place from April 18 to June 13. We will watch and discuss “The Chosen” – https://studios.vidangel.com/the-chosen.
