May the joy of Our Risen Saviour fill your souls with hope!
Today is the most sublime experience of all reality. This is the day that Our Lord Jesus has conquered sin and death. Recall the seven last words of Christ. Now recall the declarative phrase it is finished. The literal Greek term is Tetelestai, “it is finished” comes from an accounting context, which means, paid in full or the debt is settled.
Therefore, when our repentance is sincere, and not lip service, God’s plan is fulfilled. We are redeemed. I beg you to turn to Christ, turn to God’s love and accept the plan of the Father’s mercy in Christ. Our entire debt is paid, every sin, every transgression wiped cleaned. This is what we experience at Easter. This is what we experience when with a contrite heart we embrace the sacrament of reconciliation. In Luke’s account of the Lord’s Prayer he takes focus on Tetelestai when he records the words of Jesus: “forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debters.” Jesus is calling us to racially imitate His words from the Cross. As our debt is paid in full, so too, may you and forgive the debt of our brothers and sisters.
With our prayerful intercession: Fr. Gerlach, Fr. Omeke, Fr. Francis, Fr. Lowe, our Deacons and deacon elect, our dear Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and our entire staff send you our finest regards for a life that is totally renewed in Christ.
