A Catholic Education at SS. Simon and
Jude
Parents of
Catholic School children have made a
significant investment in the education
of their children. At SS. Simon & Jude,
we continue a great Catholic tradition,
where faith and morality are not chosen
over or against excellence in education,
but are integrated with it. We work at
Gospel living, and a learning
environment that respects the whole
person, intellectual, social, physical,
and spiritual. Our joint efforts are
most successful when parents and
teachers form a unified team of healthy
nurturance. We work with you to further
incorporate the Catholic faith, vision,
and values that you teach at home.
We
continue to invest in our school
programs and facility. Here are several
examples:
·
The
curriculum remains strong which is
proven year after year as our student's
high achievement scores (Terra Nova test
results) ranks among the top schools in
the Archdiocese.
·
We are
pleased to announce the implementation
of Spanish into our curriculum. And,
the specialty classes of physical
education, art, music, library and
computer demonstrate an area where SS.
Simon and Jude excels as stated
regularly by Bishop Shanahan High
School.
·
Recent
addition of a school cafeteria and
kitchen in Monihan Hall. The newness of
the space greatly enhanced the
children's lunch experience. Sound
boards have been added to further
improve this facility.
·
The gym
refurbishment is completed and provides
our children a better place for physical
education, and a variety of other
student gatherings.
·
Technology
investment continues to be an on-going
process. Smart boards have been added
to several classrooms. The Home and
School purchased new computers for our
computer lab. The school has purchased
additional equipment in order for our
students to do digital storytelling and
have the ability to create multi-media
presentations.
All of
these facts and many others about our
school allow us to offer an excellent,
high quality Catholic education in a
pleasant, safe, and secure environment
that our children deserve. Finally, we
assure you that we continue to make
every effort to keep overall educational
costs reasonable—especially the parent
portion of the tuition. Every year the
school expenditures, the basis for
tuition rates, are rigorously analyzed
to achieve the best value possible for
high quality Catholic education at SS.
Simon & Jude.

Tithing supports Catholic Education at
SSJ
Our new
Tithing Vision is well underway. We
simply ask that each family, through
discernment in prayer and thanksgiving,
do the best they can as we become a
Tithing Parish. You can see from the
charts above that the tuition does not
cover the full cost of education but
requires a large parish subsidy, which
comes from the donations of all
parishioners. Your weekly donation to
the parish is a sign of recognition and
solidarity with all parishioners who
help to contribute to our children’s
Catholic School Education.
Other Programs
We also
offer a Scrip Program where 3% or more
of your purchases will be credited
directly toward your child’s tuition.
There are some private foundation
tuition assistance programs available.
Finally, as you may have noticed in
recent Parish Bulletins, the Educational
Improvement Tax Credit program may be of
interest to eligible families. Please
contact the School Office for
application deadlines and other
information about these programs.
The
Kindergarten Tuition rate for 2008-2009
will be the same as this year, $3,300
for the full-day session and $1,650 for
the half day program.
We extend
our thanks to you, our parents, whose
cooperation and support have been a very
significant factor in our school’s
excellence. May the Lord bless you all,
and send you the Holy Spirit to help you
in every area of your parenting,
especially the wonderful gift of
education and passing on the great gift
of faith.
Respectfully yours,
Reverend
Monsignor Francis W.
