What is "PREP"?

We are now using the term " PREP " to refer to our parish religious education program which serves our parish children from the ages of 3 to high school grade levels.  We encourage and earnestly desire parental involvement in the faith development of all the students who participate in our program.

Pre-School Program
The pre school program offers a wonderful opportunity for the children to listen and understand Bible stories, pray and sing according to their age levels, do crafts and participate in seasonal activities. Volunteers guide the students to a deeper understanding and appreciation of our Catholic faith while parents attend the 9:00 am Mass at Church.

The children in this age level are 3 – 4 – 5 years of age.

The boys and girls arrive between 8:30 and 8:55 am by the school entrance closest to the back parking lot. Parents usually escort the children to the appropriate classrooms and are greeted by the teachers and aides. Parents return for pick up of their children immediately after the 9:00 am Mass. We welcome these youngest members of our program as they continue to grow in their love of God and the Catholic Church.

Elementary School Program
The students in our elementary school program range from Level 1 through 6 and meet during the week either on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. We rely on our dedicated volunteers to direct the children to a better understanding of our Catholic faith so they can articulate their faith to others in both word and deed.

The times available for Tuesdays are 4:15 pm to 5:30 pm or 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm
Please note: Students eligible for the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist must attend class on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm.

The time available on Wednesday is 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm
Please note: Students eligible for the Sacrament of Confirmation must attend class on Wednesday evenings.

The students arrive promptly and gather inside Monihan Hall where they pray, sing and listen to Scripture before proceeding to their individual classrooms. Parents are expected to pick up their child(ren) at dismissal time from the classrooms.

7th & 8th Grade Youth Group
Students attending any school (Catholic, public or private) in grades 7 and 8 are welcome to come out for our youth group. This junior high program enables the students to value the traditions and truths of our Catholic faith. All 7th and 8th graders are welcome to join this group regardless of the school they attend during the day. The youth group meets twice a month usually on the first and third Sundays. There are opportunities to share faith and have some fun along with good food. The activities vary among sports, picnics, bowling, hayrides and service projects done together. Parents are strongly encouraged to continue the development which fosters their child’s prayer life and spirituality.
